Blog by Tatiana Captari Meet the Star ⭐ ️branch! Entering an NGO is very similar to entering a new company. During the onboarding phase one feels excited, but also a bit lost. Every now and then I felt I needed a dictionary, a map, and a guide into Indian festivals. New words that needed sorting appeared in my vocabulary : “branch”, “migrant children”, “Himanchal Pradesh”, “Rakhi”, “labourer”, “public system”. So, for all the new volunteers joining I LIGHT GLOBAL and everyone wants to participate in the life of children, here a small onboarding: What is a branch: A branch is a dedicated space for children where they can come and learn, play, celebrate together accompanied by a volunteer. Each branch is run by one or several volunteers, who take the role of a teacher, guide and mentor. Star ⭐ ️branch is the oasis of knowledge for 15 children in Himanchal Pradesh region. The branch is run by Disha Rana, a student with big dreams (updates follow), who teaches children every day. The branch is under the caring support of Rekha Dogra
I Light Global currently operates across India and has around 20 branches. The number keeps growing as soon as we get a sponsor for a new space (someone offers a room in the house, a cabinet in the office, or a space in the garden) and a volunteer feeling inspired to make the life of underprivileged children better. At I LIGHT GLOBAL it is all about the children! But with this set of posts we would like to also show appreciation to the adults with big hearts who make this project possible 👋
